About that last post… Is “My Body Is A Cage” the best song title you’ve ever heard or what? It’s like a poem unto itself, which got us thinking… What are the rest of the lyrics like? And, thanks to the magical powers of the internet, we were able to find out in about two seconds.
Arcade Fire – “MY BODY iS A CAGE”
My body is a cage
That keeps me from dancing with the one I love
But my mind holds the key
My body is a cage
That keeps me from dancing with the one I love
But my mind holds the key
I’m standing on the stage
Of fear and self-doubt
It’s a hollow play
But they’ll clap anyway
I’m living in an age
That calls darkness light
Though my language is dead
Still the shapes fill my head
I’m living in an age
Whose name I don’t know
Though the fear keeps me moving
Still my heart beats so slow
My body is a cage
We take what we’re given
Just because you’ve forgotten
Doesn’t mean you’re forgiven
I’m living in an age
Still turning in the night
But when I get to the doorway
There’s no one in sight
I’m living in an age
Realizing I’m dancing
With the one I love
But my mind holds the key
Still next to me
My mind holds the key
Set my spirit free
LAist is reporting that Tangier in Los Feliz has new owners and that The Fold’s music nights there are over indefinitely starting next week. Hm… guess we’d better squeeze one more sesh in for old time’s sake. That would mean catching either Deadman and Emily O’Halloran tonight or We Are The World, Voices Voices, and Penelope Fortier on Friday.
“I have no money, no resources, no hopes. I am the happiest man alive. A year ago, six months ago, I thought that I was an artist. I no longer think about it, I am.”
Sex and Rock & Roll go together like… er- Sex and Rock & Roll. Duh. That’s why we’re so darn grateful for magazines like Self Service, Playboy France, and Purple for giving us the goods without making us feel like cheese dicks. Cuzz we’re super classy like that.
HERE iS Shalom Harlow in various states of buck nekidness for the current issue of Purple. Enjoy!
Our holidays just got a whole lot cheerier. We just downloaded ten FREE (there’s that beautiful word again) songs from some of our favorite bands right now like Black Lips and The Streets thanks to Vice Records. Thanks ViCE! Santa aint got nuthin on you.
We prefer The White Stripes to The Raconteurs, but we’ll take John Gillis any way we can get him. HERE he is performing “Old Enough” with the rest of The Raconteurs, Ricky Skaggs and, surprisingly, Ashley Monroe.
